Applying these metallic coatings couldn't be simpler. Simply spray them over our ColorTone White Vinyl Sealer, or directly onto smooth, unfinished wood or grain filler. For a durable, high-gloss finish, follow up with multiple thin coats of our ColorTone Clear Aerosol Guitar Lacquer. It's important to note that the metallic coats should not be sanded, as this could compromise the desired effect.

To ensure the best results, we recommend spraying in a low-humidity environment and applying multiple thin, even coats. For an optimal seal, use our Heavy-bodied Sanding Sealer, which provides the equivalent of two coats of lacquer. As a general guideline, you'll typically need at least one can of Sanding Sealer and 4-6 cans of lacquer to complete a full guitar project.

One crucial tip: always use warm lacquer, not cold. Professional shops prefer heated lacquer because cold lacquer can cause unwanted spattering, requiring additional sanding. To mimic this technique at home, simply soak your aerosol cans in a sink of warm tap water before use.
